Description

A rich and comforting one-pan pasta dish featuring creamy tomato sauce and savory flavors, perfect for weeknight dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add olive oil and let it heat for about a minute.
  2. Toss in the chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until soft and translucent.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute, stirring often.
  4. Pour in diced tomatoes with juice and stir in dried basil, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Season with salt and black pepper to taste, then pour in vegetable broth and bring to a simmer.
  6. Stir in the pasta, ensuring it’s fully submerged, cover the skillet, and cook for 10-12 minutes until al dente.
  7. Keep an eye on the pasta, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  8. When the pasta is just right, stir in the heavy cream and let it simmer for an extra 2-3 minutes.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted.
  10. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving hot.

Notes

Consider using medium-sized pasta shapes like penne or rotini for best sauce adhesion. Adding fresh herbs can brighten the flavors.
