Description

A delightful and easy one-pot meal featuring tender chicken, creamy Alfredo sauce, and Cajun spices wrapped around orzo pasta.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Chicken (Diced, can substitute with shrimp or Andouille sausage)
  • 1 tbsp Cajun Seasoning (Adjust salt and heat levels as preferred)
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika (Regular paprika is a substitute if needed)
  • 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes (Optional for extra heat)
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil (For sautéing)
  • 2 tbsp Butter (Enhances creaminess; add more if desired)
  • 1 medium Onion (Chopped, yellow or sweet preferred)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (Minced, for flavor)
  • 1 cup Orzo Pasta (Main carbohydrate; other small pasta can be substituted)
  • 2 cups Low-Sodium Chicken Broth (Makes the dish flavorful)
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream (Can substitute with half and half for a lighter version)
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese (Freshly grated preferred)
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Parsley (Chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add diced chicken, Cajun seasoning, paprika, and red pepper flakes. Cook until chicken is browned and cooked through; remove chicken and set aside.
  2. Add butter to the same pot, then add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until onions are translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Stir in orzo pasta and let it toast slightly for a minute. Pour in chicken broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer until orzo is tender, about 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese until melted and combined. Add cooked chicken back into the pot and mix until coated in the creamy sauce.
  5. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Consider using more cream or cheese for an extra creamy dish. Fresh ingredients will enhance the flavor significantly.
