Description

Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts, sliced
  • 2 cups long-grain rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons shawarma spice mix
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the onion until translucent.
  2. Add garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
  3. Stir in the chicken and shawarma spice mix, cooking until the chicken is browned.
  4. Add the rice to the pot and stir well to combine, ensuring each grain is coated with spices.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth, season with salt and pepper, then bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and has absorbed the liquid.
  7. Meanwhile, in a bowl, mix the yogurt with lemon juice for the sauce.
  8. Once the rice is done, remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
  9. Fluff the rice with a fork, serve topped with the yogurt sauce, and garnish with parsley.

Notes
