- 2 cups long-grain rice

- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons shawarma spice mix
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the onion until translucent.
- Add garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
- Stir in the chicken and shawarma spice mix, cooking until the chicken is browned.
- Add the rice to the pot and stir well to combine, ensuring each grain is coated with spices.
- Pour in the chicken broth, season with salt and pepper, then bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and has absorbed the liquid.
- Meanwhile, in a bowl, mix the yogurt with lemon juice for the sauce.
- Once the rice is done, remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork, serve topped with the yogurt sauce, and garnish with parsley.
Notes
