Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the sliced sausage for 3–4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter and sauté the minced garlic for 30–60 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the orzo and stir to coat it in the garlic butter. Toast for 2–3 minutes.
- Pour in the chicken broth, bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, and cook for about 10 minutes until the orzo is tender and the liquid is mostly absorbed.
- Return the sausage to the pan and stir, cooking for an additional 2–3 minutes until heated through.
- Sprinkle with parsley, season with salt and pepper, and serve hot.
Notes
Pair with a crisp salad or crusty bread. For a lighter option, substitute with chicken or turkey sausage. To add more nutrition, consider mixing in vegetables like spinach or bell peppers.
