Description
A delightful blend of sweet and spicy flavors in a comforting pasta dish, easy to prepare and clean up.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz pasta (penne or rotini preferred)
- 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced (kielbasa or andouille)
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- ½ cup honey
- ½ cup BBQ sauce
- 2 tbsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- Grated Parmesan or cheddar cheese
- Extra red pepper flakes
Instructions
- In a large non-stick skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add sliced sausage and cook for about 3–4 minutes per side until caramelized. Remove sausage from skillet and set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix honey, BBQ sauce, hot sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Stir well and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add chicken broth and uncooked pasta. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and let simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once pasta is cooked, return sausage to skillet and pour in the prepared sauce. Stir to coat evenly and let simmer uncovered for 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Adjust seasoning if needed, then serve topped with fresh parsley, grated cheese, or red pepper flakes. Enjoy!
