Description
A comforting and flavorful pasta dish made with tender penne, sweet peas, and crispy bacon, finished with a creamy sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- ¾ pound penne pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ yellow onion, finely diced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 6 slices thick-cut bacon, cut into small pieces
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package directions, adding frozen peas halfway through.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add onions and bacon, cooking until crispy and translucent.
- Drain the pasta and peas and add them to the skillet. Reduce heat and stir in heavy cream. Adjust the cream according to your preference for creaminess.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately, garnished with grated cheese if desired.
Notes
For a lighter option, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or plant-based cream. For added flavor, use freshly grated Parmesan when serving.
