Description

A true Southern classic with sweet, juicy peaches and a warm, buttery crust that captures the essence of homemade comfort food.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups sliced peaches (fresh or canned, drained)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. If you’re using fresh peaches, peel and slice them, then toss with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until just combined; a few lumps are okay.
  4. Pour the melted butter into an oven-safe dish.
  5. Carefully pour the batter over the melted butter without stirring; do not mix it in.
  6. Top the batter with your prepared peach slices, spreading them out evenly.
  7. Bake for about 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbling around the edges.
  8. Allow the cobbler to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or on its own. It pairs beautifully with coffee for breakfast or brunch.
