Description
A delightful Portuguese dish featuring tender, juicy chicken marinated in a spicy peri peri sauce, ideal for dinner parties or family meals.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 lemons, juiced
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon chili flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, paprika, oregano, chili flakes, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
- Place the chicken pieces in a resealable bag and pour the marinade over, ensuring even coating. Marinate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat and let the chicken sit at room temperature for 15 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade and grill or roast until cooked through and juices run clear, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs and lemon wedges, alongside grilled vegetables or a crisp side salad.
Notes
For richer flavors, marinate the chicken overnight. To check doneness, use a meat thermometer; avoid overcooking to keep the chicken juicy.
