Description

A delightful Portuguese dish featuring tender, juicy chicken marinated in a spicy peri peri sauce, ideal for dinner parties or family meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 lemons, juiced
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon chili flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, paprika, oregano, chili flakes, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Place the chicken pieces in a resealable bag and pour the marinade over, ensuring even coating. Marinate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat and let the chicken sit at room temperature for 15 minutes.
  4. Remove the chicken from the marinade and grill or roast until cooked through and juices run clear, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  5. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs and lemon wedges, alongside grilled vegetables or a crisp side salad.

Notes

For richer flavors, marinate the chicken overnight. To check doneness, use a meat thermometer; avoid overcooking to keep the chicken juicy.
