Description

A warming and hearty soup that transforms beloved pierogi into a comforting dish with savory broth, tender dumplings, and tangy sauerkraut.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package frozen pierogis
  • 2 cups sauerkraut
  • 4 cups broth (chicken or vegetable)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh dill for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat a splash of oil over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until fragrant and golden.
  2. Pour in the broth and add the sauerkraut, then bring to a simmer.
  3. Add the frozen pierogis along with the paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 10-15 minutes until the pierogis are heated through.
  4. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper to your taste. Ladle into bowls and garnish with fresh dill.

Notes

For a richer flavor, opt for high-quality broth and choose authentic pierogis with less filler. Allow onion and garlic to caramelize properly for depth of flavor.
