Description

A comforting and flavorful curry featuring tender potatoes and sweet peas in a spiced sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat and allow the cumin and mustard seeds to splutter.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft.
  5. Mix in turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala, coriander powder, and salt.
  6. Toss in the cubed potatoes, stirring well to coat.
  7. Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  8. Add the green peas and cook for an additional 5 minutes until cooked through.
  9. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot with rice or bread.

Notes

Use fresh spices for better flavor and consider adding a splash of coconut milk for richness.
