Description

A comforting and creamy mac and cheese that brings the nostalgia of childhood with its cheesy goodness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Boil salted water and cook elbow macaroni until al dente, drain and set aside.
  2. Make the Cheese Sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter, stir in flour to form a roux, then whisk in milk until thickened.
  3. Add the Cheese: Remove from heat, stir in cheddar cheese and mustard powder, and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Combine: Mix cooked pasta with cheese sauce until coated. If desired, pour into a baking dish.
  5. Bake (Optional): Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes until golden.

Notes

For a creamier sauce, add more milk if needed. Feel free to mix cheese varieties for unique flavors.
