Ingredients
- Large ripe peaches: 6-8 (about 3 pounds)
- Granulated sugar (for peach puree): 1/2 cup
- Water (for peach puree): 1/2 cup
- Fresh lemon juice (for peach puree): 1 tablespoon
- Freshly squeezed lemon juice: 1 1/2 cups (from 8-10 medium lemons)
- Granulated sugar (for simple syrup): 1 cup
- Water (for simple syrup): 1 cup
- Cold water (for dilution): 4-6 cups
- Fresh peach slices: For garnish
- Lemon wheels or wedges: For garnish
- Fresh mint sprigs: For garnish
- Ice cubes: For serving
Instructions
- Prepare the peaches: Wash, pit, and dice the peaches. In a medium saucepan, combine with 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1/2 cup of water, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Simmer over medium-low heat for 10-15 minutes until soft.
- Make peach puree: Remove the saucepan from heat, mash the peaches, strain the mixture for a smooth puree, and let it cool.
- Prepare simple syrup: Combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water in a saucepan, heat until sugar dissolves, and cool completely.
- Prepare lemonade base: Juice the lemons to yield about 1 1/2 cups of lemon juice, strain to remove seeds, and mix with cooled syrup in a pitcher.
- Assemble lemonade: Add cooled peach puree and stir, then gradually add cold water until desired taste is reached.
- Chill and serve: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, serve over ice, and garnish with peach slices, lemon wheels, and mint.
Notes
Use ripe peaches for the best flavor and let it chill for longer for enhanced taste.
