- 6–8 ripe large peaches (about 3 pounds)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for peach puree)
- 1/2 cup water (for peach puree)
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (for peach puree)
- 1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (from 8–10 medium lemons)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for simple syrup)
- 1 cup water (for simple syrup)
- 4–6 cups cold water (for dilution)
- Fresh peach slices (for garnish, as desired)
- Lemon wheels or wedges (for garnish, as desired)
- Fresh mint sprigs (for garnish, as desired)
- Ice cubes (as needed)
Instructions
- Prepare the peaches: Wash, pit, and dice the peaches. In a medium saucepan, combine the peaches, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Simmer over medium-low heat for 10-15 minutes, or until the peaches are soft and fragrant.
- Make the peach puree: Once the peaches are soft, remove the saucepan from heat. Mash the peaches with a fork or potato masher, then strain the mixture through a sieve into a bowl to extract a smooth puree. Let this cool to room temperature.
- Prepare the simple syrup: In another saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat on medium-high, stirring until the sugar has fully dissolved. Allow the syrup to cool completely before using.
- Prepare the lemonade base: Juice enough lemons to yield 1 1/2 cups of fresh lemon juice. Strain out any seeds to ensure a smooth mixture. In a large pitcher, combine the cooled simple syrup and the freshly squeezed lemon juice.
- Assemble the lemonade: Gently mix in the cooled peach puree into the lemonade base. Gradually add 4-6 cups of cold water, stirring to reach your desired sweetness and dilution level.
- Chill & serve: Refrigerate the peach lemonade for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld together. Serve over ice, garnishing each glass with fresh peach slices, lemon wheels, and sprigs of mint for a beautiful finish.
Notes
Use ripe peaches for the best flavor, and chill all ingredients beforehand for a refreshing drink.
