Description

These Salted Caramel Apple Bars are made with a buttery crust, spiced apples, and gooey caramel, topped with a crumble for the ultimate fall dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups all purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

4 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), thinly sliced

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon cornstarch

1/2 cup caramel sauce (homemade or store bought)

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking pan with parchment paper.

2. Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Add chilled butter and mix until crumbly.

3. Press mixture into the pan to form the crust and bake until lightly golden.

4. Toss sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch.

5. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the baked crust.

6. Prepare caramel sauce or use store bought, then drizzle evenly over apples. Sprinkle sea salt on top.

7. Mix oats, brown sugar, softened butter, and nuts if using. Scatter over apples and caramel.

8. Bake again until topping is golden and apples are tender.

9. Let cool fully before cutting into bars and serving.
