Instructions
- Make the Salted Caramel: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat the granulated sugar, stirring constantly until it melts into a thick amber liquid.
- Add the butter to the melted sugar, stirring until fully combined.
- Slowly drizzle in the heavy cream while stirring, then allow it to boil for about one minute.
- Remove from heat, stir in sea salt, and let cool slightly before transferring to a heatproof container.
- Make the Crust: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, mix flour, powdered sugar, and baking powder. Cut in chilled butter until crumbly.
- Add vanilla extract and cold water, mixing until dough forms. Press into a 9-inch tart pan, prick with a fork, and prebake for about 15 minutes until golden.
- Let the crust cool completely, pour the cooled salted caramel over it, sprinkle with toasted pecans, and add a pinch of sea salt.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving with whipped cream on top and additional sea salt.
