Description

A delicious and hearty sandwich featuring juicy beef patties, sautéed mushrooms, and melted Swiss cheese on crispy bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
  • 4 ounces Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 slices sourdough or rye bread
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons mayo or garlic aioli
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, mix ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into patties slightly wider than the bread.
  3. Heat the skillet on medium-high and cook patties for about 5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
  4. Spread mayo or garlic aioli on bread slices. On two slices, layer Swiss cheese, cooked beef patties, and sautéed mushrooms. Top with another slice of cheese and bread.
  5. Grill the sandwiches in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown and cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Notes

For best results, use 80/20 ground beef for flavor and juiciness. Don’t rush the mushrooms to enhance flavor.
