Description

Delicious puff pastry shells filled with succulent shrimp and tender mushrooms in a creamy garlic sauce.


Ingredients

  • 4 pre-made puff pastry shells (vol-au-vent)
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled & deveined
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup chicken or seafood broth
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley
  • 1 egg (for egg wash if baking your own shells)

Instructions

  1. Bake the Puff Pastry Shells according to package instructions until golden and flaky.
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter and sauté minced garlic, then add shrimp until pink. Remove shrimp and cook sliced mushrooms until browned.
  3. In the same pan, create a roux with flour, then whisk in cream and broth until thickened. Season with salt and black pepper.
  4. Return shrimp and mushrooms to the sauce, simmer for 1-2 minutes to meld flavors.
  5. Spoon filling into warm puff pastry shells and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve immediately.

Notes

Choose quality shrimp for better taste. Consider adding wine for flavor.
