- 4 pre-made puff pastry shells (vol-au-vent)
- 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled & deveined
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup chicken or seafood broth
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley
- 1 egg (for egg wash if baking your own shells)
Instructions
- Bake the Puff Pastry Shells according to package instructions until golden and flaky.
- In a skillet, melt the butter and sauté minced garlic, then add shrimp until pink. Remove shrimp and cook sliced mushrooms until browned.
- In the same pan, create a roux with flour, then whisk in cream and broth until thickened. Season with salt and black pepper.
- Return shrimp and mushrooms to the sauce, simmer for 1-2 minutes to meld flavors.
- Spoon filling into warm puff pastry shells and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve immediately.
Notes
Choose quality shrimp for better taste. Consider adding wine for flavor.
