Description
Experience the flavor explosion of a crispy exterior and juicy interior with the classic smash burger.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Ground beef (80/20)
- 1 tsp Salt
- ½ tsp Pepper
- 4 slices Cheese (American or cheddar)
- 4 Burger buns
- Condiments (ketchup, mustard) to taste
- Optional toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion) as desired
Instructions
- Prep the beef: Divide the ground beef into four equal balls. Avoid overworking the meat to maintain tenderness.
- Heat the pan: Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat until it’s hot.
- Smash the patties: Place a ball of meat in the skillet and immediately use a spatula to press down firmly to flatten it. Leave it for 2-3 minutes unbothered to form a crust.
- Season: Sprinkle salt and pepper on the patty while it cooks.
- Flip and add cheese: Flip the patty, add a slice of cheese, and cook for another minute until the cheese melts.
- Toast buns: Lightly toast the insides of the burger buns in the pan while the patties finish cooking.
- Assemble: Place the cooked patty on the bottom bun, add your favorite condiments and toppings, and top it with the other half of the bun.
Notes
Smash burgers are all about flavor and simplicity. Use high-fat ground beef for a juicy flavor. Experiment with different cheeses and keep toppings fresh.
