Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup salted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 whole egg (at room temperature)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 34 tablespoons whole milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)
  • 1/8 teaspoon almond extract (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and lay them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let them cool on a wire rack.
  7. For icing, mix powdered sugar, 3-4 tablespoons of milk, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1/8 teaspoon almond extract. Adjust the consistency as desired.
  8. Once cooled, apply icing and decorate with sprinkles or edible glitter.

Notes

Ensure your butter and egg are at room temperature for better mixing. Avoid overmixing once flour is added.
