Description

A delicious and versatile recipe featuring crispy tofu wrapped in savory nori, enhanced with sweet and spicy flavors.


Ingredients

  • 9 ounces firm tofu
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 sheets of nori seaweed
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon finely minced lemongrass
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • For serving: chopped green onions, toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the tofu into 12 bite-sized rectangles.
  3. Coat each tofu piece with 1/4 cup cornstarch and shake off the excess.
  4. Arrange the coated tofu on the baking sheet and bake for about 25 minutes, turning halfway through.
  5. Let the tofu cool for at least 15 minutes before handling.
  6. Cut each nori sheet into long strips.
  7. Mix 2 teaspoons of cornstarch with 2 teaspoons of water to create a slurry.
  8. Wrap each piece of tofu with a nori strip and seal with the cornstarch slurry.
  9. Sauté minced garlic and lemongrass in oil over medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
  10. Add soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, sugar, and 1/2 cup of water to the skillet.
  11. Place the wrapped tofu rolls into the sauce and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  12. Garnish with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Best enjoyed immediately after cooking, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to two days.
