Description

A delightful dessert combining fresh strawberries and creamy custard layered in fluffy cake, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • 1/2 cup Sugar (for Custard)
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 4 large Egg Yolks
  • 2 cups Fresh Strawberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Cream the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture and milk, alternating between the two, until combined. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes. Let them cool.
  5. In a saucepan, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually add milk while stirring until smooth.
  6. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and stir in egg yolks while whisking quickly to prevent scrambling.
  7. Allow the custard to cool slightly before folding in chopped fresh strawberries.
  8. Once the cakes are cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of custard on top, then place the second cake layer over it.
  9. Finish by spreading the remaining custard on top. Garnish with extra strawberries.

Notes

Using fresh ingredients enhances flavor. Cool cakes completely before assembling to prevent custard from melting.
