Description
A delightful and fluffy dessert that combines fresh strawberries and whipped cream for a refreshing experience.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust based on the sweetness of the berries)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon gelatin (optional, for added structure)
- 2 tablespoons water (if using gelatin)
Instructions
- Prepare the strawberries: Start by washing the fresh strawberries. Once clean, hull and chop them into small pieces. Place them in a mixing bowl.
- Sweeten the strawberries: Add the granulated sugar to the chopped strawberries. Give them a gentle toss and set them aside for about 10 minutes.
- whip the cream: In a separate bowl, pour in the heavy whipping cream and add the vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, whip the cream until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip.
- Blend the strawberries: After the strawberries have released their juices, use a blender or immersion blender to puree them.
- Combine everything: Gently fold the strawberry puree into the whipped cream until well combined. If using gelatin, dissolve it in warm water and mix it in at this stage.
- Chill and serve: Spoon the mousse into serving cups or bowls and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
For an elegant touch, consider using clear serving glasses to show off the beautiful layers. This mousse can be frozen for up to a month but is best enjoyed fresh.
