Description

A delicious blend of classic sloppy joes and crispy tater tots, perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 small bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup sloppy joe sauce
  • 3 cups frozen tater tots
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef or turkey. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, and drain excess fat.
  2. Add diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the sloppy joe sauce, allowing it to simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Spread the tater tots evenly over the sloppy joe mixture in the skillet.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the tater tots are crispy.
  7. Remove from oven and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top. Return to oven for an additional 5 minutes until cheese is melted.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired, serve hot, and enjoy!

Notes

For extra crispiness, bake the tater tots separately for a few minutes before adding them to the skillet.
