- 1 loaf of bread, cubed
- 1 cup celery, chopped
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery, and sauté until they are softened.
- In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread, sautéed vegetables, and fresh herbs.
- Pour in the chicken broth gradually, mixing until the bread is just moist.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and cover with aluminum foil.
- Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, substitute chicken broth with vegetable broth. Consider adding various types of bread or cooked sausage for extra flavor.
