A simple, rich, and comforting pasta dish made with tomatoes and butter, perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb pasta (spaghetti, penne, or rigatoni)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes or peeled, chopped fresh tomatoes
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook your pasta according to the package directions, reserving about ½ cup of the pasta water before draining.
- Sauté the Garlic: In a skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and let it warm up. Toss in the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Make the Sauce: Add the crushed tomatoes to the skillet. Let it simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Finish with Butter: Reduce the heat to low, then add the unsalted butter to the sauce, stirring until it melts.
- Combine Pasta and Sauce: Toss the cooked pasta into the skillet, adding a splash of reserved pasta water and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
- Serve and Garnish: Serve hot, garnished with Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
Notes
