- 6 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Toss the apple slices with lemon juice in a large bowl.
- Add granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the apples, stirring to coat. Spread the mixture in the prepared baking dish.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, oats, light brown sugar, and salt. Work in the cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the nuts if using, and sprinkle the crumble mixture over the apples.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
Best served warm. Can be stored in the fridge for up to 3-4 days or frozen for 2 months.
