- 28 oz canned whole peeled tomatoes
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Fill a large pot with water, add a generous pinch of salt, and bring to a rolling boil.
- Add spaghetti to boiling water and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes; drain, reserving some pasta water.
- In a skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and sauté minced garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
- Pour in canned tomatoes (crushed by hand) and simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Incorporate chopped basil, salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes; simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
- Toss cooked spaghetti with the sauce in the skillet until evenly coated.
Notes
Use high-quality olive oil for better flavor. Serve hot, topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and additional basil if desired.
