- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup fontina cheese, shredded
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Gradually whisk in the milk to avoid lumps. Continue cooking until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheeses until melted and smooth.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, mixing well to combine.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
Notes
For extra creaminess, use a mix of different cheeses. Make sure to whisk the milk in slowly to avoid lumps in the cheese sauce.
